The Labour Inspectorate carried out an inspection of enterprises that use biocidal products. In the process of target inspection, 19 establishments were visited. 46 verbal recommendations were made to employers, a total of 63 violations were indicated in the inspection report and a precept was drawn up on seven violations. During the first seven months of this year, 2,935 occupational accidents have been registered in Estonia. 2,264 of these were minor and 670 severe. One work accident was fatal. During the same period last year, 2,943 work accidents had been reported, 2,346 of which were minor, 580 severe, and 17 people had lost their lives. The sphere with the most work accidents this year has been the manufacturing of metal products, followed by national defence and trade. The misdemeanour procedure concerning newspaper kids, initiated against Ekspress Meedia AS by the Labour Inspectorate, has now been ended on the principle of opportunity, meaning that no punishment was imposed.
